Stefan Urfer
Growing up on the doorstep of the Bernese Oberland, Stefan Urfer developed a fascination for mountains early in life. He gained his first mountaineering experience within the youth program of the Swiss Alpine Club and soon began climbing the mountains close to his home independently. Stefan completed his apprenticeship as a metalworker, but his true desire was to turn his mountaineering hobby into his job. So Stefan decided to do the Swiss mountain guide education, which he completed 3 years later.
Stefan sees himself not as a specialist of one discipline, but as a true all-rounder, motivator and entertainer. In winter he has specialised himself on a mix between freeriding and ski touring, what he calls “freetouring”. Freetouring is about using the ski-area lifts combined with numerous short ascents with skins to access the best freeride terrain. The fun of skiing is always in the foreground and clients can enjoy a number of descents suitable for their level.
Stefan gets the most satisfaction however when his clients have a huge smile on their faces after a long and sometimes strenuous day out. Stefan gives his clients unforgettable experiences in the mountains and ultimately brings people closer to nature, both in summer and winter.
